    Question:
Dear Dr. Website: I have a javascript function that sets the subject and body text of a mailto. However i want to put character returns in the body text for formatting. I have a var "body" that i want to set with some character returns. I have tried "%0D%0A" and "\n", but nothing works?!!! Any ideas please?!!!!!

    Many thanks

Question: Try using the following at the end of each line you write out using JavaScript: & Chr(13)

That will add a break at the end of each line. Thanks,

    Question:
Dear Dr. Website: I have a Camaro Website that was built using Microsoft Word 2000. The web address is http://www.raidersrule15.cz28.com/ and I was wondering if you could tell me how to make the pictures on the site show up faster because right now they take forever to load.

    Answer:

I would suggest that you create smaller version, thumbnails if you will, of each picture, and let users click on the smaller picture in order to see the larger version of that picture. That way your page will load faster, and your visitors will still have the opportunity to view the larger images. Thanks,

    Question:
Dear Dr. Website: I am working for a non-profit organization, the Hope Foundation of Alberta, and we have a website that has unfortunately been leeched onto by a sex site. Our current address is http://www.ualberta.ca/hope but our former address was http://www.hopefoundation.org and it is this former address that is the source of our problem. On our current website we have a candle logo which says, "Click logo for home"

however this logo takes you to our old website which is now connected to a sex site. This is very distressing for both our organization and for our website browsers. How do I change the link of our candle from our old website address to the home page of our new site?

    thank-you,

    Answer:

What you need to do is to go into the source code for the site, and change the following (it appears right below the BODY tag):

    <A HREF="http://www.hopefoundation.org/"> <IMG SRC="http://www.ualberta.ca/hope/images/hope2.jpg" BORDER="0" ALT="Logo" WIDTH="73" HEIGHT="95"></A> to <A HREF="http://www.ualberta.ca/hope"> <IMG SRC="http://www.ualberta.ca/hope/images/hope2.jpg" BORDER="0" ALT="Logo" WIDTH="73" HEIGHT="95"></A>

then upload the file back up to your web server. That'll do it! Thanks,

    Question:
Dear Dr. Website: I have a webpage on server 1 and a text file on server 2. I want to import the text of server 2 into the webpage on server 1.

I can use ssi (server side include) but my ISP does not support that.

    Is there an other option?

    With kind regard,

    Answer:

Even if your ISP supported SSIs, you would not be able to use an include from one server to another. One option you can use, however, is to include the text file via an iframe. iframes work on most recent browsers, and basically look like they are a part of the same page (without the ugly looking scrollbars that typical frames have). To use an iframe, you would include the following code:

    <IFRAME WIDTH=100% HEIGHT=320 MARGINWIDTH=0 MARGINHEIGHT=0 HSPACE=0 VSPACE=0 FRAMEBORDER=0 SCROLLING=yes BORDERCOLOR="#000000" SRC="http://yourserver.com/yourfile.txt" TARGET="_new"> </IFRAME>

Of course you would want to change the height, width, etc. Thanks,
