I've got a website with fp extensions installed so I can use fp to manage and update my site. Sometimes, though, I use another tool to make quick file modifications and it has built-in ftp functionality.

Can I connect to a fp extensions enabled domain via ftp and upload files without messing up anything?

Thanks,
CFH

Wow! Didn't mean to bring the board to a halt.

After too much wasted time looking around, I found out that you CAN use a third party ftp program to update your fp site in many cases. I THINK as long as the pages you are updating don't utilize any of the frontpage specific things like shared borders, you should be ok. I've done it and it works fine on my site, but I coded my site almost all by hand so there's nothing in it that's fp specific.

There is one minor "issue" that arises. If you ftp up some changes to a page, then connect later using fp, the local and corresponding file on the server will be categorized as "conflict". It doesn't seem to be a big deal, but if you like your site to display all neat in the fp website view, you'll have to do something like resend the page from fp to get the conflict thing to resolve.

Maybe someone else cares.
