Anyone have this new geek gadget? Is it all that? I understand they cost $250. Is it worth it?

Singbox? Never heard of it, would you mind elaboration before I look it up myself?

Strengths: Easy to set up with newer routers; Watch recorded shows or live TV away from home; Great for travelers.
Weaknesses: Requires a broad band connection at both ends, home and away.
Summary: This is a terrific invention. No hard drives, no subscription fees. Simply connect SlingBox between your TiVo or ReplayTV and your broadband router (also works with cable or satellite box).

Install the SlingBox software on your laptop, connect to the internet from anywhere in the world (broadband connection REQUIRED) and you can watch your favorite live or recorded programs.

Keep in mind, if your internet connection is slow, SlingBox will be a terrible disappointment.

That's the real beauty of this thing to me and I think that's going to be the appeal.

As far as I'm concerned, anyone who needs this is just way too addicted to television.

Perhaps, but what about businessmen who are away from home for months? I know an economist who works for the Bank of Canada, and he's in a new country almost every month. In which case, it would be handy to watch Hockey night in canada, monday night football, or whatever show may interest you.

I wonder if cable tv and satelite tv providers are very happy about this.
