Alright. What I need is this:

Instead of your plain old rectangular banner like this...

I want this...

I know how to select the area to be made transparent and all, but I don't know how to get it transparent.

So, if one of you could post a link to a decent tutorial for this (I need it for Adobe PS 7.0) or maybe post a walkthrough of your own, that'd be great :D

Thanks,
Quiksilver

In photoshop, insted of saving your work (which you should always have a psd saved for later edits, but that's beside the point here) go to;

1. File
2. Save for Web

You'll get a dialog box and on the upper righthad area you'll see a drop down menu that has jpg, gif and PNG options. Below that drop down you'll see lots of little boxes and one says transparency. Check off the tranparecny box and select either GIF or PNG 24 from the drop down (sometimes PNG's are smaller then your standard gif and thus faster to load).

Then click on the Save button and you're done ;)

PS - make sure you background layer is hidden to a transparecy effect

Yea but it is a good idea to set the color you want to convert to transparent as far off a color as aything else in your image, otherwise things turn transparent when they shouldnt.
