Hi

I have been trying to remove solid colour backgrounds from logo images using Paint Shop Pro 7 but havn't had much luck. I have used the magic wand to select the area I want to delete and this appears to work because I get the chequered canvas when I press delete. However, after saving the image and opening it up elsewhere the background colour is back (white in this case). I have even tried just doing a straight copy and paste directly from PSP7 to the application I want it in, but the same thing happens. Anyone got any advise?

Cheers, Ste

As what are you saving the file? If you want to have a transparant background it should be .gif or .png

if you remove the background and save as .jpg, than I can imagine a background turning up on a default color, white maybe?

I've tried saving it in both those formats after removing the background but the same thing happens. Do you know where I might be able to get full instructions on how to do this in Paint Shop Pro 7?

Thanks, Ste

my guess is you would be able to find it over here: http://www.google.com/search?q=remove+background+paint+shop+pro&start=0&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official

I use photoshop myself, so I don't know the excact clicks you have to make.. good luck

This is what you need to do:
1. Open you image
2. On menu go to Colors >> Decrease Color Depth >> 256 Colors
3. Hit Shift+Ctrl+V or go to Colors >> Set Pallete Transparancy
4. When new windows open you mouse will turn into the color picker and click on the background part of your image. This will automatcily select transparancy color.
5. Hit ok
6. Hit Shift+V to view your transparancy. Now you can also delete anything on the image that you want. Once you done cleaning up save this image as gif or png file.
Reminder - In order to see image transparancy in PSP you need to hit Shift+V
