Hi,
When I download free gif animations, my computer allocates them to irfanview and then when I import them to other programms they are treated as graphics and not animations.

i also use them for school in powerpoints and the same happens here.

many thanks

Get yourself a decent graphics editor. I'm sure you heard of Photoshop yet too pricey. Closest you'll get to Photoshop without paying a single penny is either some messed-up trial version or you can get yourself a free graphics editor that is just as good as Photoshop, which can edit animations, has more filters than you'll ever need, is open source so you can create your own filters (if you can program Scheme, very easy to learn) and can even open PSD files just like Photoshop.
Free or not, you can't beat The Gimp (http://www.gimp.org/).

The GIMP for Windows:

You will need to download BOTH GTK+ Runtime Environment (http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/gimp-win/gtk%2B-2.6.9-setup.zip?download) and The GIMP (http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/gimp-win/gimp-2.2.9-i586-setup.zip?download) installers. Install GTK+ before installing The Gimp.
