I know it's rude, but .. I have a site set to resize the browser to 800 x 364, inside that is a frameset site. Looks really nice on PC. BUT on MAC ... there is a gap on the bottom and right of the right hand frame.
Each frame is set to exact pixel size, as are the tables within them. So why the gap on Mac? And is there any way to work around this?
site is: http://www.ilovemetric.com
THANKS!

Don't worry about it. Mac users are only about 2% (http://www.thecounter.com/stats/2003/May/os.php) of public and your window is not resizing for eight times as many users (http://www.thecounter.com/stats/2003/May/javas.php).

;) Ok I know about the java incompatibilities, too but I have stats on this band's audience so I know the majority of them are java-ready, etc.
My primary concern at this moment is that the band uses Mac. So while it looks fine to me and the label, it will look goofy to them.
So I guess there's no compromise solution?

sigh :(
That theory renders sites, like this bbs, useless too. As good designers, should we all stop supporting these sites, too?
Honestly, while I admire your convictions, Charles -- and by the way, normally do design to the lowest common denominator -- I am not posting here today to be scolded ... I'm looking for a compromise solution to a particular problem. If there is not one, so be it.
Thing is, I'm on a deadline so each email telling me someone has replied to my post gets me all 'cited! My job is on the line here, and this site is already late to launch. I need help, not the W3C gospel ... at least today. Thanks :)

lol "don't worry about Mac users as they only comprise 2%..."
Sorry, but what a ridiculous statement. Depending on the clientele of the site, Mac users might make up a significant portion of the people browsing the site (and they have great tastes in computers too).
Even if that isn't the case... have you ever though of what 2% of the internet surfing audience amounts too? Apple ships millions of machines per year, and has done so since 1984. Do you really want to alienate 10's of millions of viewers instead of finding a cross platform solution?
I work in both platforms, and code for both platforms. That is what my client is paying me for.

Hi James,
I think t'was sarcasm ... I think Charles' point was that the 2% Mac audience is much smaller than the eight times as many users who are not java-ready.
I always do try to design for both platforms, and as many broswers as I can get my hands on. (Presently AOL, IE 3+ and NN 4+ on Mac OS 9 and X and on PC).
For now I may need to live with a wider border then on my window until I resolve this little glitch ... was hoping someone here had a tip for me but I'll keep searchin'.

I am sure it was sarcasm, and I don't want to step on any toes! I just find some peopls comments funny sometimes, and have seen contracts lost for the very topic that we are speaking of!
Good luck with the project!
