i am trying to design a website where ppl can chat but i cnt work out the html code that will take the text from a textarea (when the enter button is pressed) and plase it on a designated area on the page (something like paltalk but where you chat on the url and not have to download things)

why not look into a java based IRC client, and set up your own channel for free?

the only thing you have to do is click 'run' when the applet apears and run it from there, and everything is done for you
