Best software for capture or recording from survalience device

Im about to put wirless cameras in two places in my home and wanted to know which is the best software for this???? i want the devices to only record when it senses movement, is this in the device, software or both????

I imagine that the easiest way to trigger this would be a motion sensor - which would be in the device itself. For capturing the video, I'd recommend Devolution (http://devsec.sourceforge.net/) (Linux-only application, though). There probably a bunch out there though, try googling around.
