Easiest bot detection?

My basic question is this: I am new to web design and having trouble finding a web log analyzer that I can comprehend. I've downloaded AWstats but can't figure out how to use it. My host, Globat, provides Webalizer but it only gives me visits and hits stats. The primary reason I need one is to find out when and how often the bots stop by, etc.. What do you suggest as the easiest way for a newbie to do this?

Email your host admin and ask him to help you install AWStats. I've used it, and it is definitely perfect for what you need.
