I also made the flash intro ... lay it on me http://www.elts.net skilled1 04-18-2006, 04:21 PM I think you should have done the gradient inside the flash player, so that you do not have to wait for the images, AND the flash to load. I like the conecpt, however if you are going to use some animations moving the flash left to right and bottom to the top, you should also have it coming from the top down, break up the mononity a bit. I believe you should make it so that the window should scale down a little more for smaller screen sizes, as it appears to be quite wide, also you should clean the bottom of the page so that the 'Copyright 2006 Eagle's Landing. Please report website issues to: web@elts.net' is at the bottom of the screen, and there is nothing past that. Other than that, very nice. Bongo56 04-18-2006, 04:28 PM Thanks alot, did you navigate to http://www.elts.net/index.htm and check out the site itself? I made it from the ground up EOBeav 04-18-2006, 04:46 PM Yeah, even at hi-speed, that site took several seconds to load. I'm not sure that a lot of visitors are going to want to get past that first page. Ok, now on to the main page: Tables for layout? Not a good thing. Horizontal scrolling appears when I switch to 800x600 rez. You'd be surprised how many people still have that size screen. Also, you're using FrontPage 6? Not trying to slam you, but what kind of training did you get in college? I'm just not seeing this as professional quality work. Just my 2/5 of a nickel. Bongo56 04-18-2006, 04:52 PM Whats wrong with tables? I didnt get alot of training in college but enough to get me started. Most of what I do is self taught. This is what the boss wanted, so that is what she got... personally this I think they're is too much content, and that causes the sizing issues. She hates whitespace, this is what you get when you have a non tech savy boss... EOBeav 04-18-2006, 04:55 PM And that's a tough thing about web design: Educating the people who are paying the checks. I wish I had some good advice to give to you about that. Better than tables is the use of cascading style sheets. You want to separate your content from your layout, ie., content in your html and layout in your style sheet. There's plenty of information on here about that. Bongo56 04-18-2006, 04:57 PM ok, i will try to look into that... I am already using css on the pages. Terrorke 04-19-2006, 02:35 AM Maybe you also should do something on your buttons. I think the text in them is to big. Bongo56 04-19-2006, 04:06 PM ok, I started to do away with all my tables on the site today(http://www.elts.net/index.htm). I have ran into a snag... the left and right images for the "header" of my site are giving me a fit in IE... although it look great in ff :) below will be my css code and the html used in creating the header... both the left and right header images are flush with the sides respectively,in FF. But in IE i get about a 3px gap on the sides of the images, any idea how to get these flush without foobaring what FF shows to be correct? CSS #header { background-image:url(index_files/hdr_spacer.png); background-repeat: repeat-x; height:77px; width: 100%; } img#headerleft { float: left; padding: 0px; margin: 0px; } img#headerright { float: right; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; } HTML <div id="header"> <img id="headerleft" src="index_files/left_hdr_img_b.png" /> <img id="headerright" src="index_files/right_hdr_img_b.png" /> </div> thanks guys! KDLA 04-20-2006, 03:25 PM Yikes, this is taking forever to load - and I'm on a T1 line! Is the Flash necessary? As a rule of thumb, I usually advise my clients to use Flash only to provide entertainment; not allowing it for any type of professional "statement." The colored scrollbar really isn't too professional, either. It's usually something relegated to personal websites. The layout is a bit too wide for my screen. As a result, the page looks a little crowded around the edges. Lastly, I'd work on getting as much text "above the fold" (on the initial screen w/out scrolling) as possible. Right now, it's quite "spacey." Good Luck - KDLA Mouse77e 04-24-2006, 07:01 AM One thing from another angle... your images... they dont inspire confidence.... a little thing but on a human level it is kind of odd. of all the health care professionals you show only ONE is interacting with a patient. subliminally your site says that you wish to "talk to" doctors that are interacting with technology not humans... which makes for poor neuro linguistic imagery... just a thought... Mouse Kendi 04-25-2006, 10:49 PM The intro is nice but could it be speeded up a little? Also, I had to scroll down to see the bottom of the intro page. Might want to make a bit smaller to avoid scrolling. White space is good, but you have a lot of it.... makes for a lot of scrolling and it made my eyes wonder all over the page. Management Profiles - You might want to add a little space around the pictures, they sit right up against the text. I personally would lose the right table because it causes some unwanted results when the screen is resized.... When the browser is resized: S.O.A.R Program - the text gets cut off, making user use the bottom scroll bar. Employment - the text and graphic overlaps. Good Luck! Kendi webdeveloper.com
