I am looking at the flash ad above and I think flash its self is a hassle... Html is not really a hassle.

your funny

you keep making these statments that resemble arty French films where the female character makes unwarranted declarations like "bathtubs frighten me", or "winter is so disappointing".

it's funny

and by the way...
STD stands for a lot of different things y'know (and Super Terrific Dude is not one of the more popular ones :rolleyes: )
just thought I'd mention it...

[font=arial][color=maroon]Personally I think that, for those who do not use text-browsers or are not blind, Flash is extremely neat. I like it very much and intend to use it a lot in the future. It's a great tool to make clients want your service even more (although, it doesn't take away from the fact that you should still have nice site design to go with it). It fits its name.

Personally, I don't have much experience with Flash but from what I have so far I haven't found it much of a hassle. I think that the few minor things I've done so far I was able to get help from the many tuts out there. :D

Flash = ease of use!

...it's another tool in the box, right? Some clients want this, some want that. Personally, I enjoy working in Flash for the artistic value of it, and there are definitely clients out there who would not have gone with a certain developer had they not had the Flash feather in their hat.

Being flexable rocks!

well I suck at flash and I would rather use still graphics for the sake of loading time instead of some big animated flash or gif banner, also its hard as heck to make a spash screen or loading bar to cache the stuff before hand...

See, that's the thing. We all tend to not the like the things that "we suck at", as you put it. That doesn't mean the thing is bad at all, it simply means we aren't comfortable with it.

As to size, I have made 30 second animations that are well under 30k. Even larger ones, complete with audio, can come in below 100k with no problems a lot of the time.

Still images have their place, as do animated ones. It is all in what is best for artist and the client. If one way works and is enjoyable, then it can't really be wrong.... can it?
