Why?

You have one in your sites stats assuming your host has site stats which 99% of them do.

The best way is to not create the counter at all but simply to look up stats collected server side from the log file. Most paid hosting accounts provide that access.

If you don't have access to the logs but you have access to install server side code then you could install any of the counter scripts that can be found on the web and simply substitute a transparent image for each of the actual images used.

If you don't have access to install server side scripts then you will need to look for a third party hosted counter that allows you to turn off the image display. You may have to pay to get the images turned off.

Hmmm I'll check with my host. Thanks!

Go to Andale.com

They have free counters for web pages.

Take a look at my site below. Then click on "Business" in the left menu and scroll down to the bottom of the Business page and you will see what has to be shown even if you use hidden counters.

You can also look at the code at the bottom of the page.

If you have Cpanel you most likely have stats programs you can use and they are usually towards the bottom depending on what skin you host has you on.

Plesk also has stats (usually at the top left just to the right of the navigation bar where it is hard to miss).
