example operational of OPENROWSET

Someone has a procedure working that it uses OPENROWSET.
I have tried with several examples and even the help of SQL SERVER and they do not work.
He would be grateful very much for his help and if a proven example is possible.

is the server linked? is the remote server sql server or something else? if not mssql, are u using the correct driver? see BOL for linked servers and openrowset.
