Computer Freezes When any Menu is trying to expand

Im running 2k3 Server on a 2.0G AMD Athlon XP with 768MB RAM and a 120G HDD just reformatted this computer and NAV 10 does not detect any virus waht so ever. Any program I use or any time i select an expandable menu within a program or even the start menu the whole system freezes for a good minute..... this system is older never had one problem with it, there are no driver problems everything is up to date , just defraged and ran a scan disk and everything is checking out normal... any ideas what it could be???

Not really sure what it is, could be that 2K3 just messed up a bit during the install process, try re-installing the graphics card drivers though, just in case.

If that doesn't work then try this. Right click on the desktop, click on properties, then click on the Appearance tab at the top, then click the Effects button near the bottom. In the new window that pops up, uncheck the checkbox next to the text, "Use the following transition effect for menus and tooltips:". That might do it.
