New Thread type... Read below.
What does everyone do for promoting their sites? Does anyone do any Google Ad words or email marketing?
I recently have been looking at running messenger service ads for a product/client. ANYone have any ideas or stories about that?
Sound off on what you do for your site or clients.
---------------
I dont want People slamming or talking about what is right or wrong... Just list what you do and from there we will discuss each medium. SO for everyone out there that hates spam and what not you will have your say but not yet. Just save it till we get to that point. Mod's will edit or delete such threads at that distract from the subject of this thread.
The point is to learn something that we may not know about this subject.

Something you may not now about messenger service ads
-Many people/programs consider this hacking when you scan their IPs and check for messanger. I highly reccommend you don't do this. I can't see a legit company using this method.
Word of Mouth has always worked for me :D. Especially if you are a trusted regular at a forum, post a link, and in come the hits.

I'm going to say this as nicely as possible... I was not asking for negative comments! The discussion on how people feel about each method WILL be discussed.
I am not disagreeing with you, on how most feel about it. However the topic is how you are promoting your sites. I'm looking to help everyone with an open discussion.
I have already gotten several PM's about how people are looking forward to what this topic turns into. Please do not be closed minded.

Yup I know what your talking about. I tried to end with a helpful suggestion. You did ask for ideas or stories though...

Well I just want people to know that htey are able to post what they do freely without people jumping on their methods or style and call them spammers or something of that nature.
We should be supportive and perhaps learn a new way of doing things from the others at this site.

i used ineedhits.com too and it was good
and if u look on most minor search engine u see in small writing 'submit url'
but its only on some search engines (i dont think its on google)
and u fill it in and it submits it but ive often found that it doesnt submit it really cos i got no traffice from doing this.,. ones like hotbot and random.com didnt work, but just look for thats somewhere near the search and all.. and yeah word of mouth is the best and also asking ppl to but ure button/link on their site also works.
except my mate told me to put his link on my site but he didnt do the same for me... hehe.. so get ure two cents worth!
HEY admin guys.. i accidemtl;y made a new topic instead of posting to the one about website submission.. sorry dude.. lol

I found that the only way that really works is to manually submit the site the independent engines/directories. Independent research has shown me that companies that submit your site generally just use a commercially available software program, such as Submit Wolf or AddWeb. This is not a recommended method by authorities on website promotion.

The only technique I've used is direct submission to search engines, but I don't do that much. I should do more, I guess.

P.S. You can submit to Google here: http://www.google.com/addurl.html
