Hard-Drive Problem

Ive installed a new Abit AV8-3rd Eye motherboard into my computer along with 3500+ and X850XT (AGP8).

The computer runs absolutely fine when running an ATA IDE Hard-Drive. The Windows XP Home CD boots straight away even no hard-drive is plugged in.

But when i plug my Maxtor SATA1 300GB in. The CD just hangs on:

"Boot from CD :"

Why is the SATA stopping the CD from booting?

After searching forums all day and found 2 possible solutions.

1. Dont swap HD from other board, fresh HD before plugging into AV8.

2. Take BIOS version down to v15, known to make SATA work better.

Currently trying 1st. Ill post my results.
