Morning.
Apologies for being not only a newb but also one with no practical knowledge of SQL... so please be gentle if my questions seem stupid... I am currently preparing a paper on the viability of my organisation (a mid-sized Government Department) moving to SQL 2005. We currently have SQL 2000, with a number of old 6.5 and 7.0 databases which we are gradually phasing out. I have found many useful resources on the web that explain the benefits of 2005 and many indicate it's a robust and relatively safe step up. However I have a couple of queries that I'd be grateful for your thoughts on.
1. We don't plan on upgrading existing data so are there any issues with this mixed environment if we do move to 2005? (I suspect not but best to be safe...)
2. Are there any significant issues people have come across in using 2005 that I should be aware of?
3. Any good web resources (I've googled some good benefits articles but not uncovered much on issues)?
Many thanks for your time.
Paul
