Many instances of an image errs in IE

When I use one image many times at one page, the image is very often not loaded in IE (Win 2K). If the image is used 10 times it fails loading in about 10% of the times the page is loaded. The more times it is used, the more often it fails.

I've tested this page on many computers, and the bug is present in about 60% of them. I've tried preloading, but it had no effect.

The error is seen in sitemaps and navigation-trees, when a line-image often is shown many times.

Any ideas?

I'll be grateful for all suggestions – this thing is really annoying me...

I tested the page in IE6 SP1 on Windows XP SP1 and it worked flawlessly.

If the image is the same, the page should always display it if it has been loaded.

May I suggest that the cache is the problem? Try clearing it out - it's a known source of problems with IE.

It is working fine with winxp and latest IE6
