Hi guys :)

I have a question... Is it an Urban Myth?! Please let me know!

You may think I am corny, and you will probably be semi-right :P - but I want to know if the webpages they create in Movies, really DO exist? :)

I was watching the girlie flick "The Perfect Man" - Hilary Duff's character has an online diary, which was basically a fancy flashy blog, and I LOVED the front page - i've been trying to find a screen shot of it but to no avail - anyways I thought what a great idea that would be to jazz up my little Princess' Blog site.

I was thinking of a animated Castle with rooms and windows that linked to other pages, something cartoony... but I have yet to come across a site that looks anything like I have in mind. If i do, its only ever on TV.

Am I looking online with my eyes closed?

Can it really be done?

I don't have an artistic bone in my little finger, I just THINK big :) ------ who would I have to approach to create something like that? A flash developer? A website designer?..

Any help will be GREAT - i want my daughters to have a site that will last them a life time.. something that i can update until they are old enough to do it themselves, I just don't know where to start! - if you saw my blogger site you would know what I meant :P

If you have any examples of girlie sites - i would love to see them too..

Thanks so much - and apologies for coming across as such a blonde!!

From your description, it sounds like a flash site. Creating flash sites and all that movement is like all those things you see on TV of how animators create cartoons, one frame at a time, though software can fill in between a start and end frame (called 'tweening'). They can be fun and there are some gorgeous sites created using flash.

In many cases, web sites in movies do not exist in real life. Copyright issues. You might see a thriller about a murder and someone reads about it on the CNN web site but I can guarantee you CNN paid for that placement. Otherwise it would have been the XYZ News site. I used to be in the television and film biz and my son is a professional teen actor so I still have my finger in that. You'd be surprised all the work that goes into copyright protection so they don't have to pay to use it, or trying to get someone to actually pay to appear in their film.

If you have any examples of girlie sites - i would love to see them too.. Careful of what you ask for  :D

thanks for the tips btw - i thought they may have been flash sites - now all i need to do is find a developer!

Know any cheap, but not so nasty developers by any chance?
