vrule image disappears when mouse over hyperlinks

I am having a strange problem which I can't figure out, I am assumming it is something in the css. I have a vrule background image on my page dividing the sidebar from main content. When I mouse over some hyperlinks on my main content, the vrule vanishes. This site is going live next week and I havn't found a resolution to this problem. Any ideas?

I wasn't able to duplicate the problem. Is there a specific browser/platform in which the problem appears?

It happens on PC IE6. I havn't confirmed if this happens on my mac at home.

Mouse over the heading links and you will see a block of the image vanish beside the link.
