Text alignment and other probs....

My site seems to appear differently on other PCs - same size monitor, same res (800 x 600).
Text seems to be out of line or wraps - images also seem to appear where they want to.

You also have a problem with the button shadows in Opera. They appear ON the buttons

Yes and in IE the button effects don't work.

As for the layout issues - I'd suggest you learn some CSS; it'll help you with that sort of thing.
