Hey there !!!

I encountered a big problem: for about a month now, my computer is rebooting spontaneously... it isn't related to a certain program that I use on Windows... just using Windows (XP SP2).

I think it all started when I changed my graphics board... from an nVidia to an ATI... can this be a driver problem?

I uninstalled all nvidia and ati drivers.. and then came back to my old graphocs board (nvidia) with a frsh driver installation and the restarting keeps on going, just whan I need the computer the most, for example when I play a 3D-accelerated game... or just when I listen to music in Winamp.
I know the soulution would be a format c: and then a complete windows reinstall, but I would loose all my configuration.. and I just do not want this right now.

Can anyone help please?

Thank you!

Could possibly be a heat problem: make sure all ventillation openings are free of dust and that the motherboard is dust-free (especially around the CPU) as dust will act as an insulator, keeping the heat in the CPU instead of letting it radiate away.

If temperature is ok then it could be your graphics card ... viruses and spyware would usually cause other eratic behaviour and be picked up by anti-virus ... try searching several different sources for a suitable driver. If not then try switching back to your old graphic card and then if you dont have any more problems theres your answer. Also check that the graphic card you purchased is supported by the motherboard (if you type your motherboard serial in to google it will tell you the details of your AGP slot) .

I just had a similar problem with my work machine, except it did this a couple times and then it wouldn't start into windows at all. We investigated the problem all day and we're pretty sure it was a surge of power that ruined something. Beware!

A lot of times that can be due to the powersupply not having a steady flow of power. See if you can find another one and stick it in to test.
