how do i code/script a link to download automatically??

I am new to this forum and appreciate your help. I would like a JPG file to automatically download when the link is clicked by the user. I've searched high and low for how to do this and have come up with a big fat zero! :confused:

That was too simple.... I had a number of different formats and they all downloaded and kept their formats. Thank you!
