Where is a good place to find freelancing work for a Web developer? Or even temporary work on a long-term project?

Market yourself. I started web development by accident to be honest. I met this lady that wanted a website, and I knew some HTML from school. I also had a lot of experience with Photoshop. So I said why not. I gave it a try, charged her only $200 and produced the website. I then learnt how to Publish it (host and register the domain). Since then, I figured it was a good market. I have built some very tasteful websites since and have expanded my knowledge a lot. I get all of my clients from word of mouth. I would see someone with a service and offer to do a website for them that would give them an online identity.

Its really up to you.

I hope you have your online portfolio ready? If not when this should be your first task. Now, who needs freelancer web designers the most? At least in my area all I here from my fellow web developers is that "where can I find a decent web designer?" So why not try to introduce yourself to the web agencies (in your own area first).
