I have a client overseas that would like an ecommerce website built. I have told her the price and she was going to arrange to send the money via Wire Transfer to my bank account. I would then proceed to purchase all nessecary requirments and start the website and finish it within a timely manner. However, last night, she asked me for a contract stating the scope, what I would do, the safetly precautions taken and the timeline along with other factors.
I have no idea where to start or even if this is a good idea.. Do I write one? What do I say? How do I start?
I freelance and have no company name, I work under my own name. Advice please guys.
Go to your local library and check out some books on "project management" (usually in the business section). Those will steer you in the right direction.

hmm....easier process. I am not in my home country. I am abroad staying by family with no transportation.
Take a look at this:

There are several helpful links. Amazon.com has many books on the subject, too.

A contract is a very good idea for both parties involved. You set out terms and agreements of what you will and will not do and for how much. That way, you don't end up doing more work for no extra pay and the client doesn't end up paying more money for no extra work.
By the way. You're welcome to discuss stuff like this, but please don't discuss specific pricing. Webdeveloper.com does not permit discussion of specific pricing details and any such discussions will be removed immediately as soon as they are found.
Once you decide on your rates though, you should set them out in your contract so that the client can not attempt to under pay you and to give the assuracne to your client that you can not over charge.
