I was just curious if anyone had any ideas, maybe even a list, of companies that microsoft has "bought out" over the years.

I'm aware of a few related to IE, but I'm not sure if there accurate or even true.

oh my god we are back on microsoft again arn't we. Look its a buisness and thats what companies do. But if microsoft is buying out compainies related to ie, dont you think they would have bought out mozilla or opera? Wait no never mine remember ie is free right now why buy out something that compeats with your product when your product is free.

you also forget that some companies the little ones wish to be bought out. Thats right they want to they pump up earnings then realize that they cant be number one but with the now inflated earnings entice other companies to take them over. Its not a hostile takeover but rather one that will make the owner fat and rich. This happens in many feilds so any large company has many many competators that she has bought up over the years. Look at adt for example they are the largest security corperation in the world. You will see atleast 150 small companies that they have bought in this manner.

Well look, I didn't slam Microsoft for trying to buy out everyone in an attempt to rule the world. Nor am I ignorant enough to not know that this occurs rather frequently. I was just thinking about it earlier today and the idea of posting a thread about the subject came up.

If you wish you can add some more companies notrious for "buying out" others. It's just something that I found curious and I wanted to know.
