Membership Program?

I would like to open a membership program on my site. Basically rewarding members with special discounts and lower prices, free shipping, all for a small monthly fee. Is this a good situation to get into for an ecommerce site? I see it here and there, but I just want to see what other people think before I head into developing it.

Anyone else try/have something like this in place?

Ex: Overstock.com has the Buyers Club.

This is more a matter o fmarketing than developing.

It really depends on your target market. It is especially well suited for businesses where customers may do a lot of repeat business (like restaurants, groceries, and office supplies) or where you can offer exclusive products or opportunities (such as jewelers).

Your best bet is to ask your customers what they want
