Hi Everyone

I was hoping some of you guys may be able to answer a few queries I have.

I am a recent graduate currently drawing up a business plan for an affiliates based website aimed at providing students in the UK with discounts to a range of products and services sold online.

Firstly I need to get a rough idea of how much the development of the site would cost me.

Secondly I was hoping someone might give me some insight into the technical aspects of the affiliate relationship. If I am looking to offer companies the opportunity to advertise student discounts, what technical considerations do I need to account for when building and maintaining my site.

Any advice would be gratefully received.

Hi,

The cost of development will vary wildly, depends on who does it, how technical it needs to be and of course how good it ends up being. Though a guy on 'Dragons Den' on BBC2 was doing a student housing site was looking for [price deleted by moderator] to develop and market his site. Marketing is the most costly part of your site in my experience.

Technical aspects, this is going to be the tough bit because not all sites communicate information in the same way or format. Thus you need to talk to you potential affiliates and and discuss the methods they can use.

Good luck.

Pricing is not permitted to be discussed in the forum, so we are unfortunately unable to assist you in providing this information.
To get this information, what you should do is approach specific website development businesses and ask for a quote.

Any replies to this post that contain any information relating to costs of website development work will be deleted. If this occours often, we may have to close the thread.
