Background Image Problems

I am attempting to place an image as a background to my site, but the image size and webpage size don't seem to mesh. I don't want the image to repeat, and the bottom always gets cut off by the browser and you can't scroll down. Also, there is a whole gap of empty space to the right of the image.

Is there any way I can change the size of the area of the background to agree with my image?

Go into a graphics editor and make the pic the same size as your screen
(but remember it might fit your screen but not someone elses)
