This guy posted a thread about WYSIWYG, but I felt this post wouldn't fit there, so here goes.

I'm halfway through developing a website, right? My boss comes up to me and asks me to do it in FrontPage. I've seen the code FrontPage generates and I'm not happy with it. Is it possible to develop a professional site in FrontPage? I don't think so, myself. I've been using notepad for HTML my whole existance in the HTML world. To tell the truth, I was a little offended when he told me to do it in FrontPage. It's like asking a hard core Linux user to convert soley to Windows.

It's slower, but you have much more control and it turns out nicer. I like to take things like PHPBB and modify them heavily so that I feel like it's my own. You could say I've re-invented the wheel a few times. Do you think this is bad? What do you think?

No. there is no wysiwyg that will code a site, and NOT add bloatcode. I am all about notepad.

If they want it in frontpage, there has to be a reason, so ask them to see why, if they still want it, then design and code it in frontpage, and go though with notepad and rip out the bloatcode, then publish it.

I talked to him about it. He said I could do it my way, but he was still going to pay me a contract rate. I need money fast, but I want to do a good job. A cellphone or internet at home would be nice. :P

So I think I'll go with good 'ol notepad *picks up a note pad and hugs it* Ha! Just a tip. I found this really good syntax highlighter a while ago called EditPad. I'm not sure if it's still around. Jasc software or something? Not sure the correct spelling.

Removing "bloatcode" as you call it can be tedious. I don't have much sight, so I'll definitely stick with the basics. Notepad with line numbers. Thanks for the reply, man. It's hard to get replies anywhere when you're a newbie. :P

Get HTML-kit (http://htmlkit.com) and save yourself a lot of time over straight Notepad. (Oooo. When checking that link I see that HTML-kit is coming to Linux. Excellent!)
