Feedback on where im headed

Redesigning our old site http://www.nexlevelnet.com . It hasn't been updated since the snow as you can see. Heres my stab so far at the new design. Any suggestions, what works, what doesn't, are much appreciated.

Just needs tidying up. Whitespace is probably due to some inconsistencies in your code. Check the site in Firefox and you'll see what I mean. Get the code 100% valid and you'll be pretty much finished.

I took a look at it in FF and Opera. I don't see any inconsistencies in the code. It may be an inconsistency in my design. Are you referring to the white space around the last section? the online computer ordering coming soon, vinyl, etc? The white is kinda thick. Please let me know. Also what do you think of the news scroller. It seems to me a color should be switched. I can't put my paw on it.

Yeah! I have that - it's amazing.

I see what you mean about the news scroller - I'd try a few [only] slightly darker colours with it. Just keep trying them out until you get something that looks good.

Another thing would be, why are you using a pic for your network communication mediums portion? It's annoying to have the little prompt to save, print, etc... icon on the web page when you hiver over a pic. If you must then at least set it as a background pic so the icon doesn't display.

Other then that I like it alot. I also liked the mouse control with the snow effect on the old site.

thanks dthurman. That is just a layout in PS. Ill strip all the text and make the appropriate image/text adjustments. The mouse control on the snow wasn't me! Its snow v2.0. I just made modifications to fit what we were doing on the site. I can't remember the author. I've got it kickin around here somewhere if you want it. Thanks for the feedback!
