Hello,

Can anyone recommend an application where various contractors are able to login and work remotely on different projects? The application needs to fascilitate access to client company's server by outside sub-contractors.

Presently the client company has 2 FTP sites; one for their inter-branch file sharing purposes, the other a public FTP site for sub-contracted consultants to login to and work on specific projects for them.

The latter is very primitive in its functionality. As an example, they would have a number of projects on the go at any given time. The projects are uploaded to the FTP server (everything from AutoCad Drawings to PDF and TIFF files, etc.) The consultants are all individually assigned USER IDs and Passwords to access the Projects. Some have full access rights while others have READ ONLY rights. Sometimes certain consultants have both full access rights and read-only rights to multiple projects. The FTP site provide nothing more than a space to upload and download relevant files for the project that they are working on.

Is there something else more efficient that could be done to facilitate this procedure?

Any help/advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Regards.

When you say work on projects...do you mean project plans? (Project Management Application Recommendation)

IBM has a host based product called Rational Portfolio Manager, where remote users can login and access their own or multiple project plans. handles risks, issues, change requests, etc....
