Sound not playing? (flash)

I don't know when it happened, I just used the functions I had always used, but suddenly when I previewed the swf's in my browser no audio would play. I checked the actionscript and it should have worked just fine. What could be the problem?

Did you by any chance have blocks set in your browser? Sometimes this will affect it. Otherwise, I'd be happy to look at your file and see if I can help - just email me the file.

I use Firefox, so I doubt activeX is enabled (isn't that a IE control). I disabled NoScript and no use. Besides, it's not only my flash files that fail to work, I can't hear the sound on either YouTube or GoogleVideo. That happens in Firefox, IE and Opera... on all flash files. Could it somehow be a codec problem? I recently reinstalled some codecs and that might have had something to do. If it's that... what audio codec does Flash use?
