Hi,
I have a client who wants a 'search site' facility so that people can type in a keyword and be taken to the relevant page. I've never handled anything like this before and haven't a clue where to start. Is this some kind of programme that you can buy, or is it something else?
Any clues on where I go from here would be very much appreciated.
Thanks.
Ray

Try Zoom (http://www.wrensoft.com/). I use it in php form. It works, and has good support. It's not bad accessibility-wise, I think, though it's fairly easy to make some improvement tweaks, if you know what you are doing.
This (http://www.perlfect.com/freescripts/search/) is an excellent script. I use it on my personal sites. It's free too!

Hi Lee,
Thank you for getting back to me.
Is this easy to install, I have never had experience with PERL script ? Is it worth paying $100 for Perlfect to install ? What are your thoughts ?
Thanks.
Ray
If you have had any experience with working on severs (i.e., transferrring files, creating directories) it shouldn't be a problem. As to paying for the installation, it's a fair price. It all depends on how bad you want it. You can't really mess anything up too bad, so you might just go ahead and install it. As I remember, it's just a matter of copying files and running a small install program. You can also set-up a file of directories/files you don't want to include in the search.
At the bottom of the page are links to the documentation and installation guides. Check those out.
