hi, i need to know if Perl is a program you need to buy.

I suppose I should note that you don't need to have it at all if you have a host who has it. You can write your scripts or get scripts and upload them to a server that has perl on it, then run them there. No need to compile or anything, perl is interpreted.

The Perl Intreperter is definately a program but Perl is also a scripting language. The answer to your question will depend upon just how the word "Perl" is being used.
