I love this site :) http://gryboskibuilders.com/ AnotherDesigner 08-07-2006, 04:19 PM ... I was put off by the first three words. Sorry. Thanks for the heads up, but it takes forever to load Flash-based sites on my connection. BrettNooyen 08-07-2006, 04:21 PM ... I was put off by the first three words. Sorry. KDLA 08-07-2006, 04:53 PM Better watch out -- your site might be nominated for Flanders' "Webpages That Suck" -- you've got some serious "Mystery Meat Navigation" going on! :p It would be helpful to title your slides, so that the viewer might revisit the ones they are particularly interested in, rather than blindly clicking little black boxes. The site's look isn't bad at all, but to me the navigation is not user-friendly. There are too many access points scattered about, without one contained area strictly for Navigation. KDLA AnotherDesigner 08-07-2006, 05:39 PM Brett the point I was trying to make, is that a website based purely around Flash is going to deter SOME visitors from exploring the site. I visit a website... If it hasn't loaded at least 90% in 10 seconds, I go... If it's content I'm desperate to read, I'll go Google it and find another site that has the same content on... You're virtually guaranteed that the same content will be on another website, somewhere else, which is text based or has a text-only alternative. I'm pretty certain that I aren't the only person on the World Wide Web who 'backs out' of a website if it doesn't load quickly...... Your first one was very unclear, thus it confused me a bit. I agree that there could be an HTML counterpart, perhaps that will fit their budget at another time. As most of you pro designers know, it's not always what we want for our clients so much as what they can afford to do. AnotherDesigner 08-07-2006, 08:08 PM Apologies for the lack of clarity in the first post Brett. I agree that I could, and should, have worded it better than I did. I didn't mean to appear rude or crass, and I hope I made the point clear later in the thread. webdeveloper.com
