does the SWF run slower from when you test it in flash? I've set it to 31 fps, got pre-loaders and it runs really smooth when I hit hit ctr+enter.

When I preview it from Dreamweaver 8 in a browser window, the motion tweens look alot slower. Will it run as quick as it does in flash when I upload it to the server?

Your comments would be really helpful,

Thanx.

I've not heard of that. I guess it is possible that when you are running the swf locally and you've got dreamweaver, flash, outlook etc open it may simply be slowing down because of resources on you machine.

Flash is client side, so if you have complex animations, lots of tweens, more that 4 or so things moving at the same time then you're going to slow down, regardless of frame rate.

With Flash 8 there is the oportunity to apply filters on the fly, but if these require processing, such as the displacement map, again these will slow down the movie if the client machine cannot handle the processing.

Basically upload to a test site and then test with the lowest realistic common denominator computer in mind. You cna do this by asking all of your friends, especially ones with stone age computers to go and have a look. If you find it is slowing down unacceptably then you need to look at the animations in the flash.
