Hey,

I've recently redeveloped our corporate website from a static html site to a dynamic one using mysql and php.

The problem I've run into now is google still has many of the old html pages indexed which generates a 404 whenever anybody tries to go to them.

Does anybody have any suggestions?

You can set-up a temporary re-direct from the old pages to the new until Google re-indexes them.

I recently re-designed my site with new links, page design etc but to cope with the pages registered by the search engines I left the old pages on the site with an inserted link to the new page referring viewers to my new page which prevented 404 pages and hopefully kept them on my site. I am still getting requests for information six months later from pages that have been removed from the new site. I did not like the idea of re-directed pages as I think I would leave if I saw a page being re-directed - being re-directed to where? would be my mental question.
