Easy Transfers

I need to know if there is an easy way to allow people to get very large pdf files from my website. I have the links and it takes forever to view. If I uploaded .zip files to the server and keep the link, would this be easier?

Yes and no.

Yes; the zip file will be considerably smaller to download.

No; the user will have to know how to unzip & open the file. Easy enough to do, but a lot of people don't have the software or don't have a clue.

If you are creating your own pdf files, maybe you can reduce their size by eliminating or reducing the size of the graphics you are using in them. If you aren't making your own, I don't thing you have many choices.

Maybe an ftp download would make it go quicker?... Not sure how to set that up, though.
