Printing formatted letters from the website

we're having difficult printing nicely formatted letters from our website, e.g. with graphics, text in columns and more. Standard HTML doesn't work since it often looks different on the printed page than it does on screen and headers and footers seem impossible. We've also looked into PDF generating tools but couldn't find anything satisfying. We're currently enabling users to export to MS Word - but that's not 100% reliable either.

I'm pretty sure there's a solution out there. Any assistance/direction would be greatly appreciated.

Have you looked at www.ASPPDF.com that is the PDF tool I work and once you have the hang of it, it is great, creates PDF's nice and fast.

I would recommend going down that path as HTML rendering to a printer is not great and depends a lot of what the end user has.
