Turn pencil drawing to Vector Image

My friend has done some Amaizing pencil drawings on plain white paper. Is it possible for me to Scan these images and then turn them to Vector using Illustrator? Is there a mode that can be used?

yes, AdobeStreamline has now been built into Illustrator CS2 to make this much easier. You'll need some trial and error with the settings but I've achieved some great results very quickly. You'll find the filter under the Object window called Live Trace.
