The difficulty really rests with the way that the internet, and browsing web pages fundamentally works. When you go from one page to the other, the browser completely clears the content of the active page before it starts to request and display the new one. There are only a few ways I can think of to really get music to play continuously while a user is browsing your site. One method is to use Frames. A navigational or header frame would continuously have the music playing in it. Frames are not a good idea for most sites for a variety of reasons, like browser compatibility and SEO. Here is more information and opinions: Why Frames Suck (Most of the Time) (http://www.useit.com/alertbox/9612.html) Another method is to use Flash to create your entire site. One good example I know of is Rob Thomas (http://www.robthomasmusic.com/)' site - RobThomasMusic.com (http://www.robthomasmusic.com/) Not only is this a very complicated method, it is also much worse for all the browser & SEO reasons mentioned about Frames. Also: Flash: 99% Bad (http://www.useit.com/alertbox/20001029.html) I ALSO agree with wh666-666 on the opionion that music is not necessarily a good idea on most web sites. The example above for Rob Thomas (http://www.robthomasmusic.com/) works well because he is a musician and would work for any music-related site. But I recommend to all my clients not to use music on every page, especially on informational and ecommerce web sites. Most computer users are browsing with the media player running and nothing is more jarring than a web site with music you can't turn off easily. If you want to reach these users, offer an optional pod cast or streaming radio channel they can listen to if they want. I hope this helps. :) webdeveloper.com
