chip card for web page access

Hi,

Is it possible to use a credit card style chip card for managing user access on web pages?

How i want it to work is simply the user goes to the login page then inserts the chip card into a card reader. automatically the data (username and password stored on the card) are automatically copied into the login form and is submitted.

Does this work? Please help me

Well, if you have the hardware and the software, almost anything is possible, but you may have to write it and build it yourself.

Well, it's not a very secure method by itself for users since anyone could steal or lose the card. It's also expensive since the you actually have to pay to create the cards every time you get a new user or someone loses a card. I'm sure it can be done though.
