Hey guys!

I found the web site of the world organization of webmasters, and there is a possibility to take exams, to get professional certification of web designer, web master and so on...

What I wanted to ask, if there is someone who knows anything about this certificates? Are they recognized, can you get a job with this?

Please drop some information If you know anything, or tell some other way of getting certified...

Thanks!

No idea if they are legit or not, but I can tell you one thing, having a piece of paper from whatever organization will never guarantee you a job, ever.

Certifications can come handy in certain sectors of the IT industry, for example training, where a trainer simply *has* to be certified by certain companies in order to legally teach the official curriculum.

You could also argue that well recognized certifications, such as for example, the SUN Microsystems ones, somehow give the prospective employers a better idea of someone actual level of skills.

However, since it's really simple to roughly gauge someone's skills based on a simple series of in-house tests, or sometimes even a basic half hour chat, I do not see what values a generic certification from a little known organization would bring to the table.

Personally, while I do hold quite a few myself, I have never made any hiring decisions based on certifications (or diplomas, for that matter). Attitude and work experience is 100% of what I'm looking for.

Cheers,
