Hello,

I recently ended my hosting with a company and I now have the option to host my site from home. I have an ADSL connection with static IP address and I have set up SME Server on a spare computer (also acting as our firewall). What I need to figure out now is every step required to make my domain name now point to my IP address. I know plenty about web development but this is the first time I have set up my own web server.

Thanks.

You need to update your DNS records to point to your ip address. In order to do this you might have to register a DNS record and you will need to different static IP addresses that point to your server.

and a google search:

Fantastic, thank you heaps.

I ended up using www.mydomain.com, which provided me with a free DNS service, aswell as email forwarding and more. Exactly what I wanted.
