... than some of the very well known, long established sites, and respected sites; for example for a search query: lba 80293248 (http://www.google.com/search?q=lba+80293248&start=0&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official) (it's fourth, the "Tadej's homepage ..." one) my website ranks higher than CNET Reviews and Redhat sites ??!

And there are many other such cases (i.e. many other such keywords), for instance for a query for phrase multitask subnet mask (http://www.google.com/search?q=multitask+subnet+mask&start=0&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official) it ranks even higher than Microsoft's site.

P.S. -- Oh and also see here: Keyword Analysis (http://my7.statcounter.com/project/standard/keyword.php?project_id=1441475&PHPSESSID=ab11748042085806a5ba353493104c6b) and especially here: Recent Keyword Activity (http://my7.statcounter.com/project/standard/keyword_activity.php?project_id=1441475&PHPSESSID=ab11748042085806a5ba353493104c6b) for other such specific words-combinations (these are the two statistics pages at Statcounter)

So what are you looking for a reason why your sites are listed higher than the others?

I could be a lot of things. My main guess would be inbound links, I have no hard facts to back this up but how may sites link to yours and then how many are going to the MS site?

I just don't see links pages listing sites like MS anylonger. However Inbound links have always been a very strong reason sites will either be ranked higher or lower.

obviously the keywords you rank high for are terms that other sites are not doing a good enough job rankings for in search. this can mean 1 or 2 things. 1 your competition isnt doing a good job there or 2 your ranking for keywords that have a low search volume.
