I just came across a nice open-source (free) vector graphics editor program. Great for making those beautiful web graphics that have no 'pixelation' edges.. It's nice. I think you might enjoy. :)

Of course, don't forget that you can easily clean up antialiasing issues (pixelation) by designing the graphics @144 dpi, and then scaling them down to 72 dpi when you are ready to use them (any layers should be flattened before scaling down to 72 dpi). I've been doing that for years now; it isn't perfect (especially for really tiny stuff, such as small type), but does wonders on borders and curved edges.
I do agree, however; Inkscape rocks.

I came across "Inkscape" on the Firefox extention "StumbleUpon", and now that I am considering installing "UBUNTU Linux" onto my spare HDD, I see that "Inkscape" is part of the Ubuntu install. Nice. (Although twice now I have caused my computer to 'stall-out' while using Inkscape... but I have only 224MB RAM... -that about half what would be required to run the upcoming Windows-Vista. -Time to buy a gig-stick or two and update this ol' mule I guess...)

Yeah I had a search for an open source vector tool and inkscape was the best of the lot I found.
Running it on XP with a gig of ddr, I managed to get it to lag a bit as I was putting it through the paces to see how good it was.
I had the a4 page zoomed out to the size of a business card and was creating massive amounts of quite terrible and huge objects.
Shouldn't have any problems with normal use and a decent amount of ram.
