Set up PHP MyAdmin on XP

hi

I'm a real beginner at php and mySql but i got to start somewhere.

I want to install PHPMyAdmin on my xp machine so I can run mysql databases and learn all that with out damaging someone's web server.

Anyhoo, i have downloaded PHPMyAdmin and I'm trying to decipher the documentation, but I can't work out where to put the files or what to do with them. I have IIS set up and I pasted the files in the C:\Inetpub\wwwroot i don't know if that's right or not.

There doesn't seem to be anything in plain English about how to install a mySql or this PHPMyAdmin stuff, Ive installed MySql and I'm assuming I need PHPMyAdmin as UI for nit. If there's anyone who can help or point me to an info source for dummies I'd be really grateful

Well I think you have two choices;
1. if you want to get your hands dirty so to speak then do more research on how to install and configure php + MySQLwith IIS

2. you can download Windows Apache MySQL PHP (WAMP)
which installs everything including phpmyadmin(you will have to uninstall IIS if you use WAMP)
