Alert Message

I've got an intranet up and running which gives user's the possibility to load applications (Word, Excel, etc) from an html page. What I would like to do though, is if someone tries to load FrontPage or whatever, and it's not installed on the computer they're using, I would like a popup message that informs them of this.

Is this possible?

Or even better... can I hide the link to the app if it's not installed?


Either way is good enough!
